WHO WE ARE

SkillPop is a community-led education company. We launched in 2015 with an in-person model, hosting pop-up style classes throughout the Southeast on topics like photography, watercolors, business development and more.

Like many companies, the pandemic forced us to make a major pivot. We spun up a virtual model in less than three weeks, launching an online class product called SkillPop Anywhere. In our online model, we continued to deliver the class content we were known for in a live, virtual environment. Over the last two years, we’ve also built out a B2B arm where we provide teambuilding and development classes to corporations.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Part-time Customer Experience Associate (Charlotte, NC) — Flexible Hours

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you’ll support both our corporate & virtual classes by:

  • Setting up, facilitating, and breaking down in-person classes — especially for our corporate clients. You’ll be the face of our brand and a liaison for both our teacher & corporate partner; professionalism is a must.
  • Managing communication with students who attend our public classes via our support inbox & messaging platform.
  • Assisting with supply organization and prep for our growing number of in-person classes.
  • Hosting virtual classes as needed.

More than anything, we’re looking for the right person who’s excited about growth potential on a small team and has a “put me in, coach” attitude. Our goal is to provide top-notch customer experiences for every student, teacher, and client and you’ll be a big part of this.

This role has work-from-home flexibility but is based in Charlotte, as the majority of our in-person corporate clients are here. Exact hours are flexible but we’re anticipating a starting point of 10–15 hours/week and are looking for someone with availability during standard business hours.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Based in Charlotte, NC
  • Flexible schedule with daytime availability
  • Comfortable moderating both virtual class sessions and in-person classes
  • A reliable mode of transportation
  • A personal computer & strong home internet connection
  • A well-lit, quiet, aesthetically pleasing space to broadcast from

DESIRED TRAITS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Punctual and dependable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with high attention to detail (including using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation)
  • Confident leading groups or speaking publicly. No big speeches here, but you do need to be comfortable giving a short welcome (<5 minutes) at the beginning of each class
  • Tech-savvy — you’re comfortable with basic computer skills and can figure most things out
  • Warm, hospitable, and professional; you’ll be the face of our brand whether you’re in a class or responding to emails
